Union Grove Elementary School - UGES Bobcat STEAM Night

WHAT:  UGES is hosting its annual STEAM event with hands on activities provided by many of the local businesses (The Muse, Denso, Newell, South Blount Utilities, Arconic, UT Ag Extension, and many more) as well as William Blount High School and Union Grove Middle School. We are excited to be a part of this event as it continues to grow each year.

MTSU Department of Physics & Astronomy- October Skies at Hop Springs

WHAT:  
The MTSU departments of Physics and Astronomy Arts and The School of Agriculture will present a night of Beer Tasting, Sensory Testing, Painting and Star Gazing at Hop Springs. Experts from these departments will be offering short talks about both the beers and the fermentation process, food sensory testing along with the opportunity to look through telescopes and investigate the night sky. This event is for community members who are older than 21 only. Event free; Beer available for purchase

Collierville Library - Altered Books

WHAT:  

Learn how to transform old books into new art! We will cut, tear, glue, paint, and stamp to transform old, unused books into new works of art. Some old books will be provided, but feel free to bring your own (hardcover works best).

 

Cumberland River Compact - River Talk: "River North: A Look at Nashville's Bold Riverfront Development"

WHAT:  River North will reshape Nashville’s urban riverfront, ushering in a new era of connectivity between Downtown and the East Bank of the Cumberland. Just across the water from Germantown, the 125-acre River North district is the first work-shop-play-live development to incorporate the Cumberland River into a multi-faceted urban lifestyle. At this talk, we will hear an update on the plans for the development, including preliminary designs for the community riverfront park.

 

Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum - Creative Zone: Country Car Design

WHAT:  Work with family or friends to engineer your own movable car prototype, inspired by the unique vehicles on view in the galleries. For ideas, examine Webb Pierce’s 1962 Pontiac Bonneville convertible, customized by Nudie Cohn with steer horns and more than 150 silver dollars, and Elvis Presley’s “Solid Gold” Cadillac, which has its own television and shimmers from forty coats of paint made of crushed diamonds and fish scales. What new features will you invent in your car design? All ages. Taylor Swift Education Center. Included with museum admission. Free to museum members. Presented in support of Fall Break Fun.
