Customs House Museum and Cultural Center - Sunday Family Fun Learning Day: What to do When the Clothes Dryer Quits

WHAT:  This event combines Science, Technology, Art and History in a program that teaches how clothes were washed and dried prior to electricity. Guests will visit the Family Art Studio to learn how the sun dried clothes and helped early settlers in many other ways. Guests will hear stories about the Sun, create their own sun painting or drawing, and make a clothespin.

OEP has a long history of supporting K-12 energy education through professional development and student learning opportunities. These learning opportunities link the broad topic of energy to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects and provide educators with the knowledge and resources necessary to teach energy concepts.  We explore energy through hands-on interactive demonstrations designed to make energy exciting and fun.

WHAT:  MEGAMicrobe is VI4’s annual community event for kids ages 5-15 and is free to the public. Spend as much time as you like exploring different booths run by real Vanderbilt scientists. You’ll have the chance to touch, see, and create your very own experiments. This year, MEGAMicrobe’s theme is ANIMALS! Our Microbial Zoo will give kids a chance to learn about microbiology as it relates to all kinds of creatures. Bring the whole family and join us for a fun day of science!

 

MTeach at MTSU - Charlotte's Web Activity & Family Movie Night

The MTSU College of Basic & Applied Sciences, the MTeach program, and the MTSU School of Agriculture invite families to explore the beloved classic Charlotte’s Web with interactive stations that will begin at 5:30 pm bringing the book to life and making connections between literacy and science. A screening of the movie Charlotte’s Web will be shown at 7:00 pm.

Murfreesboro Parks & Rec - Snakes: Mysteries in Nature at Wilderness Station (Ages 12+)

Introduce yourself to the world of snakes. This program will cover the natural history of snakes as they entered the new world and populated the southeast including the volunteer state. We will discuss behavioral and community ecology, biodiversity and conservation of snakes in Tennessee. This program would be great for college students concentrating on life sciences, young adults or people just interested in the snakes that call middle Tennessee home. Come enjoy a colorful presentation and get a chance to see a live snake up close.

Discovery Center at Murfree Spring - Parent's Night Out: Spooky Science
