WHAT: Enjoy the wonder and beauty of flying flowers as we search the park for monarchs and other butterflies. To help scientists understand the monarch migration, we’ll catch, tag and release monarchs. While learning about the importance of butterflies and how we can help them. Expect to walk around 2 miles on dirt/grass trails. Additional date: October 16th.

WHAT: Metro Water Services is hosting a booth and inflatable soil tunnel at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville, TN. MWS Stormwater will have an interactive enviroscape where kids and adults can test to see how erosion prevention and sediment controls play an important role in keeping our stormwater and waterways clean! There will also be a soil tunnel to walk through and learn about the different types of soil.

Trees are Terrific! Do a Self-Guided Tour MTSU's Arboretum

WHAT: .Did you know that trees are the largest organisms most of us will encounter in our lifetime? Come visit the MTSU campus in early fall to view representative native Tennessee trees, with one exception, the Ginkgo. Download the Native Tree map from the web address provided or pick up a foldable copy in the MTSU Science Atrium. This is an open event, a casual walk to visit each tree will take about 2 hours. Parking on campus is not available from M - F, 8AM to 6PM but plenty of parking is available in the Rutherford Blvd lot where you can walk to campus or ride the Blue Raider Shuttle. Tree tags also have a QR code that will provide you with a walking map to specific trees that are part of the Arboretum.

Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary Fall Color Hikes

WHAT: Fall is upon us! Led by veteran trail guides, you’ll follow the progression of fall at Owl’s Hill. This series of guided walks is just for adults. Walks begin promptly at 9:30; reservations required. Cameras and binoculars welcome. This hike is offered weekly on Saturdays from 10/1 - 11/12.

TARGET AUDIENCE: This is a moderately strenuous hike, open to age 15+. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
